I highly recommend using the Beauty Works products. Their top quality and allow your hair to stay in the best condition!

Beauty Works Oil - Helps to protect your hair and hair extensions with the Beauty Works Argan serum. Make sure you use it daily to maintain healthy hair and hair extensions. I like to use it on my hair in the morning when I wake up and in the evening just before I go to sleep.

£11.99 each

If you don’t want to pay out for the beauty works range, then there are many other alternatives. However i do recommend using shampoo and conditioner without the ingredient ‘protein’. Argan Oil hair products are also a very good alternative, which I would highly recommend browsing TkMaxx for, as they usually have a wide range of their products for pretty much half the price!

I also recommend using a heat spray when using heat on your hair. I personally like to use GHD’s to avoid my hair from getting damaged and dry.

Make sure you use a tangle teezer hairbrush, as this will allow easy combing to your hair, whilst preventing damage to your hair. When brushing hold the track firmly with your palm then brush from ends up.

Depending on the quality of your hair extensions wash as least a possible, If top quality then aim to wash once a week.Try not to pull your weave back into a pony tail too much or too tightly.Tie in a loose plait or pony before heading of to sleep to avoid tangling.

Only one tightening is recommended as it is kinder to your hair, which should be done 3-5 weeks after having your hair fitted. Avoid rubbing the hair in a rough motion. When towel drying hair is a downwards motion. Leave your hair to dry naturally, as it will give you the best results, as heat will allow your extensions to dry out. Also ensure you use your oil leaving it in your hair when wet.

Sewn-in-Weft Hair Extensions

Over the past few years, the popularity of hair extensions has grown dramatically. Its’ definitely safe to say I haven’t been shy to try out different methods from clips ins to pre-bonded to a weave. Everyone has their favourite method depending on what suits them best but If I'm honest my favourite method up to date has got to be the sewn-in-weft, often known as a ‘weave’.

What is a Weave and How are they applied?
A weave, otherwise known as a sewn-in-weft, is a hair service that provides you with a longer and fuller hair. The hair extensions are woven in to your natural hair which is first braided in to 2 to 5 rows depending on your hair type. The weaving technique involves braids, so no glue and no heat! Make sure that you book in for a consultation with your hair dresser beforehand to ensure that your hair is able to hold the weave.

What  hair extensions to use?
I absolutely recommend Beauty Works Hair!! I can’t stress enough how good their hair is, it is 100% human hair and it may be more expensive then other hair extensions out there but you get what you pay for! Their are three types of beauty works hair extensions. 1. Beauty Works 2. Beauty Works Celebrity Choice  3. Beauty Works Gold. I have 150 grams of Beauty Works gold in 20” due to my hair being so fine I was recommend their Gold range of hair to create a more fuller look.

The cost:
Weaves can range from all kinds of prices but like I said you get what you pay for. For 105 grams of Beauty works hair can range form £54.99. For 120 grams of Beauty works Celebrity Choice hair can range from £134.99. For 150 grams of Beauty Works Gold hair can range from £210.00, this all depends on how many grams of hair you use, your colour and the length that you choose to have. Hair extensions technicians charge from a variety of prices, Donna my hair dresser at ‘A World of Hair’ charges £50 for a weave fitting. So the total price of my hair and my hair to be fitted was £296.99. Every 3 to 5 weeks after your hair has been fitted, you will need to get your hair tightened, which cost me £15.00, but other hair dressers may charge different.

My thoughts:
I find weaves to be my favourite method as I find them to be very natural as you can never see them like you can other methods. I can’t stress enough how important it is to make sure that your hair dresser is a qualified hair technician, as there are so many people out there ripping people off who are not even qualified. Yes, you may think but they are so much cheaper but trust me you will be putting your hair in to deep danger. So make sure that they have all the certificates and know exactly what they are doing, also research in to it, don’t just jump straight in to it. My hair dresser is a specialist in sewn-in-wefts with all the qualifications and years of experience. She truly does care about her job and making the client feel confident and beautiful. She doesn’t only provide you with new luscious locks but also whole guide on aftercare for your hair extensions to make sure that your own hair stays safe and your extensions stay in the best condition.
